Case Study 3 - Question 2

What risk did Google take in not initially complying with government requests?

Its refusal to release database records to the federal government landed Google in court. Google complained that the request was unnecessary, overly broad, would be onerous to comply with, would jeopardize its trade secrets, and could expose identifying information about its users. Google protested that providing such information to the government would be detrimental to the trust that user place in the company.
