Discussion 1 - Question 1

Form a team to identify the public locations (such as an airport, public library, or café) in your area where wireless LAN connections are available. Visit at least two locations and write a brief paragraph discussing your experience at each location trying to connect to the internet.

A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a local area network (LAN) that doesn't rely on wired Ethernet connections. A WLAN can be either an extension to a current wired network or an alternative to it. The wireless signal is broadcast so everybody nearby can share it, several security precautions are necessary to ensure only authorized users can access the WLAN

Wywy Restaurant
The signal is strong but due to limited receiver, the others can’t receive the packet data.
Sometimes, server down and internet’s lagging due to low bandwidth will upset the users who depend on restaurant wifi. Mostly, users are downloading for heavy applications there.

Coffee Bean Cafe
Users are using phones and touch pad devices to access the Internet and download for low applications due to low speed and bandwidth. Users are satisfied with the wifi or internet connections provided. Sometimes encounter blank web pages due to IP address conflict and limited access the website.
